Behavior and Diversity
Diversity in business means a lot more than race, creed, color, nationality, race, age, sexual orientation - it includes behavior. Don't clone a team! Use behavior to drive improved results and tap into the best of people.

What's your "people" investment?
How much do you spend on your human capital? 38 cents on the dollar? 62 cents? In most industries, especially service industries, the largest portion of the operating dollar is spent on the knowledge worker. How much do you value your employees?

Working Against Your Strengths

Don't fall in love with a candidate!
Fall in love with the role, that is what drives the ROI for the company. Be careful not to fall in love with the candidate that may not be able to perform at the required role level.

What's one of greatest challenges within a senior executive team?
Extremely gifted and talented people. Its the double-edge sword - those folks who are multi-faceted, multi-talented, great thinkers with lots of ideas, experience and skill levels. This seems contradictory but it's not. Do you ever listen to the sound bites on TV where someone has made it "big" and said "thank goodness because I don't know how to do anything else". Some times a curse can be a blessing! Senior executive teams that are multi-talented in many areas have a great challenge - remaining focused on the organization's mission and what serves it best. Focus, focus, focus on the main efforts and align talents and behaviors to specific roles to improve individual and company performance.
